Design Update

Hi everyone,

So as you know from my previous post I've been working on some digital textile designs that are inspired by crystal formations.
I promised to upload my design progressions for you, so here they are.
Some of the designs are new and some have been tweaked so that they would be more suited to fashion application.

I've created visualizations of how I imagine these designs looking on a selection of gorgeous dresses. Original model images are from http://shop.acnestudios.com/

I can't wait to print these onto silk satin next Tuesday.

All That Glitters...

Hi everyone,

at the moment I am currently working on a short design project as part of my university course.
We were given free reign for this one, so I have decided I would like to design a collection of 4-6 fashion swatches.

I've wanted to try incorporating photography into my designs for a while now but it never really seemed appropriate for the designs I was working on at the time. Finally I have found something that would really lend itself to that type of approach.
I am really inspired by the digital print designs that have been going strong on the catwalk for the last few years and thought it might be fun to try something that's totally new to me.

During my last couple of projects I became really fascinated with mirror imaging and thought this would be the perfect chance to experiment further.

The inspiration for my designs is taken from crystal formations. My mom has been in love with crystals ever since I can remember and we would often spend our summer holidays exploring crystal and fossil shops in quaint little seaside towns. Needless to say, this fascination has rubbed off on me.

Below are my designs so far. I picture them looking great on a simple silk shift dress from somewhere like All Saints, Cos or Acne where the garment structure is kept clean and simple, allowing the prints to make the impact.
Any comments would be greatly received. I'd love to know what you think.
